Hush Newborn is a baby-care tracker for parents. This page explains, in plain
language, what data the app handles, where it lives, and how to have it removed.
The short version: there are no accounts, no ads, and your family's data
is never sold or shared with anyone.
There is nothing to sign up for
Hush Newborn has no user accounts. You never give us your name, email address,
or phone number. When the app first runs it makes up a random key on your phone;
that key is how our server tells devices apart. It says nothing about who you are.
What the app stores
- Care entries you type in: feeds, sleep, diapers, medicines
and vitamins, growth measurements, milestones, and vaccines, plus the baby's
name and birth date and settings you choose.
- Technical logs: records of what the app was doing — sync
activity, connection state, purchase flow steps, and crash and performance
reports. The app sends these automatically so we can keep sync reliable and fix
problems; they can include technical details of entries, and they are deleted
from our server after 14 days.
- Usage statistics: the app uses Google Analytics for Firebase
to count installs, sessions, which screens are opened, and whether a
subscription was bought. Google receives a random app-instance identifier, the
device model and iOS version, and rough location from the network address. It
never receives an entry, a name, or anything you type. This is always on; there
is no advertising identifier and no advertising use. Google's handling of it is
described in Google's privacy
policy.
Where your data lives
- On your phones. Each phone in your household keeps a full
local copy, so the app works with no connection.
- In your iCloud. Your household's record lives in your own
Apple iCloud account (and its shared zone, if a partner has joined). Apple's
own privacy terms govern
that copy; we cannot read it.
- On our sync server. A copy of your household's entries is
kept on our server (hush-newborn.com). It does two jobs: it moves an entry
logged on one phone to the other in seconds, and it is a spare backup so
nothing is lost even if a phone dies. Access requires the device keys of your
own household — one household can never read another's data.
What we never do
- No advertising, and no advertising identifiers.
- No tracking across other companies' apps or websites, and no advertising
identifiers. Usage statistics (above) and this website's visit counting
(below) are the only third-party measurement.
- No selling, renting, or sharing of your data with anyone.
- No reading your data for any purpose other than operating the service and,
when you write to support, helping you.
This website
hush-newborn.com uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages
people read, but only if you tap Allow on the bar that appears
on your first visit. Until then nothing is loaded from Google and no cookie is
set. If you allow it, Google Analytics sets cookies on this site and receives
your page views, rough location, and browser type; IP addresses are anonymised
and nothing entered in the app is ever involved. Choosing No thanks
is remembered on your device. To change your mind later, clear this site's data
in your browser. Google's handling of that data is described in
Google's privacy policy.
Payments
Subscriptions are bought through Apple. Apple handles the payment entirely; we
never see your card number or billing details. One subscription covers your whole
household.
Children
Hush Newborn is made for parents and caregivers — adults. The entries are
about your baby, entered by you, and are treated with the care described
on this page. The app is not directed at children and has no social features.
How long data is kept
- Care entries: kept while your household exists, on your phones, in your
iCloud, and on our server.
- Technical logs: deleted from our server after 14 days.
- Usage statistics: kept by Google Analytics for 14 months.
Deleting your data
- Deleting the app removes the copy on that phone.
- The iCloud copy is yours: remove it in iOS Settings → your name →
iCloud, or by deleting the household data from within the app.
- To erase your household's copy from our server, email
support@hush-newborn.com from any
device in the household. We verify the request against the household's device
keys and complete deletion within 30 days.
Security
All traffic between your phones and our server is encrypted in transit. Every
request must prove it belongs to your household; keys are never placed in web
addresses; the server keeps its logs free of secrets.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, the app will say so and this
page will show a new date at the top.
